The Machinations of Balgrum
The Priunum were a civilization that existed thousands of years ago. Archaeologists have unearthed and studied a plethora of sites, revealing that their creations were not reliant on magic of any kind, instead using methods that combined a form of electromancy with ferromancy. Surprisingly, many of the Priunum creations still operate today. The Priunum’s empire spanned the globe with sites existing even in the most desolate locations; many of which have little damage to their internal structure. With their amazing durability, Priunum ruins are still hospitable, but are extremely dangerous due to unique protective measures that make quick work of those who are ill prepared or over confident in their abilities. Despite this, many guilds and companies seek those who would brave the ruins to plunder the treasure that hide within.
With what has been uncovered, scholars have made huge advances in current technology, chief among them: the Rune-Core engine. The smelting process of Etherium, as well as the fabrication of more advanced Clockwork creatures were also made by reverse engineering Priunum technology. Even now, many to unlock the mysteries that Priunum technology hold, in the hopes that they will be the ones to guide the races of Balgum.
However, despite all that scholars have learned, much is still unknown about the Priunum. With all their technology and power, why did they fall? Where did they go? And are the current inhabitants of Balgrum doomed to a similar fate?
